STRESS:  When you are overly stressed, your body produces an excessive amount of the stress-response hormone cortisol.  Its action it to conserve energy and so cortisol encourages your body to ‘lay down’ more fat in order to ensure you have the necessary reserves to ‘fight’ the stress.  Unfortunately, high cortisol levels make weight loss very difficult.
