Obie Sheds His Skin

You may remember that in September last year, I posted a blog about a daschund called Obie who was literally eating himself to death!  Poor Obie seemed to have a big appetite (and generous  owners) and weighed in at 35kg – around 25kg overweight!  EEK!  Obie was rescued and put on a drastic weight loss diet before his weight condition caused him an early death.  You can read more about Obie’s plight here:  http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/world/biggest-daschund-to-lose-puppy-fat/story-fnd134gw-1226470648914

Obie before his weight loss

I thought today I would give you an update on the Obie story.  It seems that in the last 8 months, Obie has been losing weight beautifully.  In fact, Obie has lost weight so well, around 18kg so far, that he has just had surgery.  Little Obie’s loose skin was literally ‘dragging’ on the ground so 1 kilogram of excess skin was removed in surgery.  Fortunately, the surgery went well, and Obie still has a few more kilograms to lose before he reaches his goal weight:  you can read more about Obie’s surgery here:  http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/home-garden/obie-shed-18kgs-then-1kg-in-excess-skin/story-fngwib2y-1226635047138

Obie post-surgery

Obie post-surgery

Obie must be a very different dog today than the one he was 12 months ago:  I mean, the poor little dog couldn’t even carry his body weight a few steps so the joys of going for regular walks, interacting with other dogs in the park, swimming and fetching balls is something he will love once the stitches from the surgery are removed.

When you think about it, Obie has a lot in common with overweight humans:  put simply, if you are carrying too much weight, I am sure there are things in your life you are missing out on too.  However, once the weight begins to come off, you will have a whole new world of experiences opening up to you.  No more weight holding you back from joining in.

So take a leaf out of Obie’s book and get your new life back on track!  Our programs are easy to follow, family friendly and will fit in with your lifestyle and budget.  Now is a great time to start a weight loss program, particularly as Winter is around the corner:  you can look fabulous by Spring!
