Fall Pregnant The Natural Way

The 21st century has brought with it a higher cost of living.  That means that women are staying in the workforce longer, prior to starting a family, in order to build up a ‘nest egg’.  However, delaying conceiving a baby can sometimes be tricky, particularly once a woman is over the age of 30.  In fact, current statistics in Australia show that one in six couples will have difficulty achieving a pregnancy.

It’s not just starting a family later in life that is causing the infertility issue:  Australians are currently in the grips of an obesity epidemic and side-effects associated with carrying excess weight are many and varied – besides an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, certain types of cancers, it seems that infertility is directly related to carrying excess weight.  A study of 1755 couples was recently conducted in an infertility clinic in Saudi Arabia:  of the couples surveyed, only 17% of women were of normal weight, however 42% were overweight and 38% obese.

Women who are overweight are also more at risk of developing Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which can complicate the problem of infertility even further.  Put simply, PCOS is a condition where the ovaries are filled with cysts, making ovulation impossible.  It is claimed that PCOS affects between 5-10% of all women, with most of these women being overweight.  Sufferers of PCOS often carry their weight around the upper abdominal area and have other symptoms such as irregular periods (or sometimes, none at all), increased body hair, acne and oily skin.  Also, people with PCOS are insulin resistant, which means they have a greater risk of developing diabetes.

Doctors treat the condition of PCOS with hormonal therapy however this is not always successful and can put your ‘hormones in turmoil’ into even greater chaos.  Our programme is great – not only can it help you to lose weight, but our holistic approach ensures the hormones are getting back in balance naturally, making your ultimate goal of conception a reality.

Past successful client, Helen Patrinos (see photo), joined The Natural Way due to her diagnosis of PCOS.  Frustrated with her inability to fall pregnant, her doctor suggested that she lose weight to increase her chances.  Not only did Helen lose 26kg, she fell pregnant and is now the proud mother of a gorgeous son.

I always thought that many women avoid pregnancies due to weight issues or they don’t want to look ugly but being overweight can cause infertility problems i didn’t even know that. Better losing weight after pregnancy rather than losing weight before pregnancy.
