Autumn Is Here: Don’t Go Cold on Losing Weight

 There is no denying it:  the shorter days and ‘chill’ in the air tells us that Autumn is really here…and isn’t this time of year just beautiful?  The oppressive heat of summer is gone and the leaves are changing colour, so it’s a perfect time of year to enjoy the crisp mornings.

 I don’t mean sitting on your verandah with a cup of coffee and watching the world go by…go out and get active.  Why not try getting up half an hour earlier to take a walk around your neighbourhood?  Not only is this a great way to wake up a sleepy body, but it also kick-starts the metabolism for the day.  More importantly, half an hour of brisk walking can ‘burn’ around 120 calories (it’s true – wear your pedometer while you walk) and if you get into the habit of walking before you eat, most of this ‘burning’ will be those calories of stored fat.  I know how hard it is to get out of bed early, but if you go to bed a half hour earlier then you won’t miss any precious sleep.  By adopting an early morning walking regime, it helps to establish a good habit that can be continued into winter – and beyond!
