Proof that Hormones and Weight Gain are linked

There is much more to weight loss than cutting back on dessert and increasing exercise:  nutrient deficiencies, stress and hormones can all have an impact on how you gain and lose weight.  In fact, latest research has shown that hormones can have an impact on how you maintain your weight AFTER you have slimmed down to your goal.

A recent study, conducted by the University of Melbourne, selected 50 overweight people to go on a restricted calorie and shake ‘diet’ for 10 weeks.  Only 34 people successfully completed the initial 10-week regime and an average of 13.6kg was lost.  However, despite being given counselling and advice on how to maintain their weight loss, the average weight gain after 12 months was around 5.4kg.  Read more about the study results here:

It seems that hormone levels play a large part of  reason as to why the weight gain occured:  scientists checked the blood levels of nine hormones that influence appetite and compared their levels to 12 months earlier. Six out of the hormones were still out of whack in a direction that would boost hunger.  In addition to that, the majority of those studied said they still felt ‘hungry’ after meals compared to what they reported before the diet program began!

The Natural Way have always advocated that losing weight is much easier than maintaining weight which is why we offer ALL of our clients FREE maintenance visits once they reach their goal.  Our clients feel this helps to keep them on track, particularly the fortnightly / monthly weigh ins.  Also, the consultant may recommend the client continue to take a selection of key formulations:  these are designed to keep the body, in balance ‘naturally’, and would therefore ‘curb’ the effects of those pesky appetite stimulating hormones that appear sabotage the success of long term weight management.

The Natural Way is not a quick fix NOR a starvation diet – you eat real food and get good old-fashioned, personalised service during your weight loss program and beyond.  So if you want to lose weight and keep it off phone 1300 SLIMMER (754663) and book your FREE appointment to find out more about how you can lose weight and keep it off.

So true, as a Consultant and a previous client myself I know that hormones are instrumental in making it difficult to maintain a goal weight. Having experimented with and without our natural formulations, I can assure you that it is so much easier and I feel so much better when taking hormone balancing formulations.
