Fast Food: Our New National Dish


Figures released today are a BIG cause for concern.  Current spending trends show that by the end of the year, Australians will have spent $37 billion on fast food.  More amazing, is that this figure has increased by $4 billion in just three years!

So despite the fact that we are all feeling the pinch with the increased cost of living, it seems that the average Australian has plenty of spare cash to spend at fast food outlets.  In fact, $37 billion is equivalent to 343 Whopper burgers for every man, woman and child in Australia. 

And we wonder why obesity is on the rise?

    We are what we eat and it is so sad that fewer of our children know what a real home cooked healthy meal is but the majority will know of McDonalds…..

    I sometimes think that it would be more healthy to just eat the wrapper (and tastier, too, I bet) and throw the Big M away. It is frightening to see so much fast food eaten these days when there are quick, easy and healthy alternatives.
